Arrival and Dismissal Procedures

Playground Supervision

  • Students can not be on campus before 8:40 AM unless a parent is supervising her or him.

Tardy Students

  • Students must be accompanied by an adult to the office for a tardy slip after 8:50.

Change of Normal Pick-up Routine

  • All students must have a current note from home if they are changing their normal afternoon routine. If the teacher does not have a note, your student will be sent home in the usual manner.
  • In the case of an emergency change, call the office with the information before 3:15. After 3:15, we can’t guarantee delivery of the information before dismissal.

The telephone numbers on the student’s enrollment card MUST be correct and current. Anytime a change has occurred, updates MUST be provided to the office. Every effort will be made to contact families if the need arises. In case no one can be contacted, APS police will be contacted.

Dismissal Procedures

  • Children cannot be dismissed from school during school hours unless a parent or authorized adult picks the child up at school. They must be picked up by an adult and be signed out in the office. If a child is checked out, a picture ID needs to be shown for identification. The person checking the student out needs to have permission as disclosed on the registration card in order to remove the student from school.  Parents can update the registration cards to add adults who are allowed to remove their child from San Antonito. We take the safety of our students very seriously and will not allow students to leave with adults who do not have advance permission to take the student.

Drop-off and Pick-up Procedures

Parking Lot Safety

In an effort to help with the congestion of our drop-off and pick up area we will be increasing the drop off spots from 4 to 8 cars.  There will be 4 spaces numbered 1-4 to the east of the crosswalk and 4 spaces to the west of the crosswalk numbered 5-8.   There will be two duty personnel to help with the crosswalk and direct traffic.

  • Student drop-off and pick-up is located in the north parking lot, ONLY. Do not exit or enter from the staff parking lot on the east side of the building.
  • Park your car and walk your child to the building if you need to unload from the back seat or trunk, or if the driver needs to get out of the car for any reason.
  • Students need to exit on the curbside at all times.
  • Students waiting to be picked up by parents after school must follow the school rules for behavior (running in the walkways, jumping off walls etc. is not permitted). This applies, even if parents are stopping to visit with other families.
  • Students may not be on campus without parent supervision before 8:40 a.m.

Thanks for helping us keep everyone safe!  We appreciate your commitment to this policy as it keeps our students safe!

Student Drop Off/Pick Up

  • School grounds are only supervised during the school day.
  • Students shall not be dropped off on the school campus before 8:40 am, unless eating breakfast.  Breakfast begins at 8:30 am daily.
  • If extenuating circumstances prevent a family from picking up a student on time, the school shall be notified within fifteen minutes of the end of the instructional day.
  • If the problem continues, the student may be considered abandoned and the police may be notified and such children may be subject to transportation to a designated state shelter.
  • Please reference the Student Behavior Handbook available on the APS website.
