Arrival and Dismissal Procedures

Playground Supervision

  • At the beginning of the school day, students report directly to their general ed classroom.
  • Teachers will supervise students during A.M. and Lunch and P.M. recesses.

Tardy Students

  • Students enter the school campus through the Main Office Doors, stop and the Receptionist Desk before proceeding to their classroom.

Change of Normal Pick-up Routine

  • All students must have a current note from home if they are changing their normal afternoon routine. If the teacher does not have a note, your student will be sent home in the usual manner.
  • In the case of an emergency change, call the office with the information before 3:15. After 3:15, we can’t guarantee delivery of the information before dismissal.

The telephone numbers on the student’s enrollment card MUST be correct and current. Anytime a change has occurred, updates MUST be provided to the office. Every effort will be made to contact families if the need arises. In case no one can be contacted, APS police will be contacted.

Dismissal Procedures

  • Children cannot be dismissed from school during school hours unless a parent or authorized adult picks the child up at school. They must be picked up by an adult and be signed out in the office. If a child is checked out, a picture ID needs to be shown for identification. The person checking the student out needs to have permission as disclosed on the registration card in order to remove the student from school.  Parents can update the registration cards to add adults who are allowed to remove their child from San Antonito. We take the safety of our students very seriously and will not allow students to leave with adults who do not have advance permission to take the student.

Drop-off and Pick-up Procedures

Parking Lot Safety

In an effort to increase safety for our students, we have create two drop-off and pick-up areas and a separate bus area. At this time, parents may not walk their student onto or off campus. All students must go through the drop-off/pick-up lines or ride the bus.

Kinder & 1st:  East parking lot; 9 spaces for cars- please pull up the the first space available;  There are duty personnel to help with load and unload students and direct traffic. Please watch for and follow their directions.

2nd - 5th Graders: North parking lot; 9 spaces for cars- please pull up the the first space available;  There are duty personnel to help load and unload students and direct traffic. Please watch for and follow their directions.

  • Students need to exit on the curbside at all times.
  • STUDENTS MUST WAIT ON THE SIDEWALK FOR PICKUP, UNTIL THEIR CAR ARRIVES.
  • Students waiting to be picked up by parents after school must follow the school rules for behavior (running in the walkways, jumping off walls etc. is not permitted). This applies, even if parents are stopping to visit with other families.
  • Students may not be on campus before 8:40 a.m.

Thanks for helping us keep everyone safe!  We appreciate your commitment to this policy as it keeps our students safe!

Student Drop Off/Pick Up

  • School grounds are only supervised during the school day.
  • Students shall not be dropped off on the school campus before 8:40 am.
  • If extenuating circumstances prevent a family from picking up a student on time, notify the school fifteen minutes before the end of the instructional day.
  • If the problem continues, the student may be considered abandoned and the police may be notified and such children may be subject to transportation to a designated state shelter.
