SASM PTA

Hello SASM Families,
I'd like to thank our committee chair, Lisa Moore, and all of the volunteers who put in the hard work to throw a fabulous school dance last month. We appreciate the gift of everyone's time and creativity to bring such a fun new event to our community!
We have volunteer opportunities coming up in March and beyond:
- March 16-20: Scholastic Book Fair
- March 18: Family Math & Literacy Night (click here to sign up)
- April 24: Grown Up & Me Boys’ Event
- May: Teacher Appreciation Celebrations
Register here to become a PTA member https://sanantonitopta.memberhub.com/store.

Mark your calendars! This year PTA will be hosting a Family Literacy Night combined with Math Night on March 18th, thanks to the extra money raised during Jog-a-Thon. Come join us to shop the Scholastic book fair, hear stories from special guest readers, enjoy a short performance from East Mountain High drama students, and get creative with bookmaking alongside local artist Shelly Korte. Hope to see you there!

February 2026
Please join us for our February PTA Meeting on Tuesday, February 17th. The meeting will be held in the San Antonito library at 4:00 pm. Children who attend with their parents need to follow library rules and stay seated quietly for the duration of the meeting. Feel free to bring books, activities, or tablets with headphones to help children sit quietly. There is no food allowed in the library. Register here to become a PTA member: https://sanantonitopta.memberhub.com/store.
Ready to get involved? We have volunteer opportunities coming up this month and next:
- February 20th: School Dance - Sign up at San Antonito: Born to Rock
- March 16-20th: Scholastic Book Fair
- March 18th: Family Math & Literacy Night
PTA membership is not required to volunteer. Interested in volunteering in other ways? Let us know: Volunteer Form.
We have two exciting new school events coming up! Due to capacity limitations, students will attend one or the other. The first event is right around the corner on February 20th, and the planning committee has been hard at work creating a fun 80’s dance theme - Born to Rock! Look for event #2 coming in April.
The cold winter days are getting longer and Evening Recess will be back in session next month. Look for a Save the Date notice coming in late February. We’re excited for opportunities to get together with old and new friends on the playground.
It’s also time to start thinking about filling vacant Board Member positions for next school year. If you are interested in learning more about serving on the board, please reach out to me at sanantonitoPTA@gmail.com. We’d love to have you!

December Updates
It’s not too late to join the PTA! PTA funds and volunteers help make many of the events, activities, and improvements to our school possible. Membership doesn’t require attending meetings or volunteering (unless you’d like to!). By joining PTA you can form connections, influence school activities and priorities, and help create a strong school community. Register online for this school year.
We’ve received many great ideas for how to use the extra money raised during this year’s Jog-a-Thon. Our goal is to be ready to take a final funding vote at the December 16th meeting. More information about December’s meeting agenda will be sent via email and posted on our website.
Please feel free to reach out with any questions!
November Updates
SASM PTA would like to thank everyone who helped make October’s Fall Bash such a fun event for our school community! We’re so glad to have this fun opportunity for kids and families to get together outside of the school day.
Thank you to our Fall Bash committee chair, Jordan Ortiz, for all the hard work put into organizing this event along with volunteers the EMHS Volleyball Team, EMHS Honor Society, Jasmine Lyons, Jennifer Nunez, Hannah Gaffney, Mia Leggett, Moriah Bearquiver, Shelby Villegas, Faerl Torres, Antuanette Wojton, Melanie Tunell, Melissa Suchey, Jonathan Ortiz, Luke Watson, Jenny and Shawn Strovas, Ms. Kyla, Ms. Burke, Ms. Peacock, Mrs. Scott, plus all our dunk tank participants!
We would also like to thank the businesses who made donations to support the event - thank you to The Triangle, Tijeras Feed Store, Trader Joe’s, Costco, Ellis & Estes Law Firm, Team AirPlay & Crew, and the Sandoval, Wojton, Kern, and Nickolett families! Thank you to the Bernalillo County Fire Department and Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Department for supporting this event as well.
With November comes a time change and shorter days, so we’ve paused Evening Recess for the winter months. We’ve enjoyed seeing the kids get some extra time to run and play with friends on the playground. We'll start back again in March when the days get longer with daylight savings time.
We welcome everyone to our monthly PTA meetings. Our next meeting is Tuesday, November 18th, at 4:00 pm in the SASM library, or online at https://meet.google.com/ixw-wugy-znv. We’ll be discussing proposals for how to use the extra money raised during Jog-a-Thon. If you’d like to submit a proposal for consideration, please email the PTA with a brief description of your idea along with an estimated cost. The deadline for proposal submission is November 11th. You can also provide your feedback in this brief survey: https://forms.gle/N4tFBZ4a9ZUSywYA8.

October Updates
Thank you so much to the SASM community for your support of our 2025 Jog-a-Thon! Every email sent, dollar pledged, lap run, and hour volunteered helped make this event a success - we couldn’t have done it without you! And thank you to our new Jog-a-Thon chair, Veronica Ligon, for her hard work in bringing it all together. The funds we raised will allow our PTA to continue supporting our school with valuable resources and fun family events.
Speaking of fun events…Fall Bash is almost here! Our Fall Bash committee is hard at work putting together an amazing and fun evening and admission is FREE. Come by on October 17th from 5:30 - 7:30 pm to check it out.
Are you able to donate some time to help set up or break down for the Fall Bash? Sign up here to help out. Candy donations for this event are also appreciated and can be dropped off at the front office.
We welcome everyone to our monthly PTA meetings. Our next meeting is Tuesday, October 21st, at 4:00 pm in the SASM library, or online at https://meet.google.com/ixw-wugy-znv.

Happy New School Year, SASM Families!
My name is Shannon and I’m the new incoming president of the PTA. We’re excited to kick off another year of supporting our terrific school, staff, and families. This year, our PTA meetings will be held in the library on the third Tuesday of every month from 4:00 - 5:00. We’d love to see you there!
Our first PTA meeting of the year will be on Tuesday, August 19th, where we will be reviewing and voting on our proposed budget and fundraising goals. We’re aiming to continue funding the fun events and support we’ve provided in the past including classroom allotments, food for after school events, busses for field trips, guest speakers, and more.
Children who attend the meeting with their parents will need to be able to follow library rules and stay seated quietly for the duration of the meeting. We will also have a Google Meet option for the meeting: https://meet.google.com/ixw-wugy-znv
