October Focus: Perseverance
During October, SASM will focus on perseverance- the ability to keep trying, work through challenges, and continue learning even when something feels difficult.
Perseverance connects naturally to academic stamina, growth mindset, Structured Literacy, and problem-solving. Throughout the month, students will learn that mistakes are part of learning and that success often comes from practicing, using different strategies, asking for help, and refusing to give up.
Families can reinforce perseverance at home by encouraging children to:
- Keep trying when a task is challenging.
- Use positive self-talk.
- View mistakes as opportunities to learn.
- Ask for help when needed.
- Celebrate effort, progress, and improvement.
Staff members will select our October Students of the Month based on how well students demonstrate perseverance in their classrooms and throughout the school.
