Stage 3 Closures for National Forests
Posted 5/18/22

Good afternoon, EM Residents,

Due to extreme fire danger, Cibola National Forest will implement Stage 3 closures on three of its four mountain districts effective Thursday, May 19, at 8:00 a.m.  The closure order affects Sandia, Mountainair, and Mount Taylor Ranger Districts and will remain in effect until rescinded.

Open areas include Magdalena Ranger District, which remains under Stage 2 fire restrictions, also Sandia Peak Tram, Tram facilities, and the observation deck only.  Visitors will not be allowed to access any National Forest System land at the top of the Tram.

Some exemptions apply, including for residents using roads in the Restricted Area to access their private property.  See the closure order and associated maps for details.

Santa Fe and Carson National Forests will also implement Stage 3 Forest Closures starting Thursday, May 19.

Thank you for your cooperation and support!
