Families,

As you all are aware San Antonito STEM Magnet with APS/NMPED Partnership is offering a free Summer Reading Program at our site! Open to ALL New Mexico students Kindergarten through 5th grade.

Please click here to register your student today to ensure there is a spot for your child.  Interested families should select Tijeras when completing the process as the site doesn’t list individual schools. 

Program Dates:

  • June 8, 2026 - July 17, 2026
    • No program on Juneteenth (June 19th)
    • No program the week of June 29 - July 3, 2026

Key points:

  • School Hours M-F 8:00 am - 12:00 pm 
  • Breakfast & Lunch served each day
  • Before/After School care offered at Vista Grande 505-468-7500 or Los Vecinos Community Center (505) 314-0240 
    • If needing care, families need to register with the community center (attached) and there is a fee associated with the care.  There is a sliding scale application (attached) based on the monthly income so many families will qualify for a discount.  Prices for the entire summer are $10-$290 depending on income. Call center for more information.
    • There will be a Super Stop at Vista and Los Vecinos so anyone can access this transportation to SASM both in the AM and PM if needed 
    • Note: Students may not elect to go on summer program field trip in place of attending summer reading on any given day. 
  • Bus transportation provided via Super Stop locations (bus times released mid/late May)

  • Tutors will be doing reasonable student accommodations to all. We will not follow IEP’s in summer reading. If a student’s IEP says to attend ESY they need to go to ESY not our Summer Reading Program. 
  • No health staff on site. Site Leader/Principal and tutors will take care of scrapes, ice etc. Families will be contacted if severe medical issues arise. No medicine given at school.
